History of the Golden Lion

The Golden Lion was built in the 16th century, on the merchant trading route from London to the Welsh borders.

The industrial revolution and the development of the canal network saw Easenhall grow into a thriving rural community, with the Golden Lion at its heart. The arrival of the motor car industry in Coventry saw Easenhall grow as a popular destination for trips into the countryside.

In 1931 Herbert and Alice Austin started 86 years of the Austin family at the Golden Lion. Currently, the third and fourth generation, James and his daughter Caroline have kept the village pub links to the past, established an award winning restaurant, and are now looking to the future with their 17 bedroom Hotel and function suite.

At the Golden Lion Hotel you can be assured of quality in homemade products, with award winning food and excellence in service.
